In the early 2000’s, I found myself standing in my garage holding a STANLEY FatMax saw, ready to attempt my first cut on a piece of wood. I thought it would be a breeze but realised how laborious and grueling it was trying to make a mitre cut through a piece of hardwood by hand. Challenged by the process, I didn't give up. Now, 20 years on, I am creating big and small hand made pieces.
Up until 2017, I was a wood hobbyist until one day I decided to run it as a business. For many days and nights I sat and thought of what I could name my business when the light bulb flashed. This made me remember one of the many tools my beautiful father had passed down to me. It was his own treasured wooden hammer and now that he is no longer with us, I cherish that hammer even more. No-one is allowed to borrow it. It made sense to me that I should name my business ‘The Wooden Hammer’. So, as a homage to my beautiful father, The Wooden Hammer was born.
I have come a long way from my beginnings in my then single garage workshop. My passion for wood has driven me to turn hard work and inspiration into pieces that will last a lifetime.
